Biodiversity Centre for Wildlife Studies

BCFWS Data and Information

On 28 April 2008, the Biodiversity Centre for Wildlife Studies completed its Data and Information Sharing Policy. The policy describes how BCFWS acquires data and information, how BCFWS will make data and information available, and how BCFWS will attempt to recover costs necessary for operating the Wildlife Data Centre.

Necessary to the implementation of the policy was a transfer of data, information, and equipment from R. Wayne and Eileen C. Campbell. This was also completed on 28 April 2008 as a "gift" to BCFWS.

Because of the significance to BCFWS in having over four decades of data, information, and equipment "gifted", and with the completion of data and information sharing agreements, a Special Bulletin (prepared for Wildlife Afield Vol.4, No.2) provides a complete overview of the vision and challenges encountered during the development of the BCFWS Wildlife Data Centre.

Requesting Data and Information

Persons or companies who wish to request data and/or information from the BCFWS Wildlife Data Centre are required to familiarize themselves with the BCFWS Data and Information Sharing Policy. It is also recommended that you are familiar with the Wildlife Data Centre history. Once this is done, requests for information and/or data can be made using the BCFWS on-line Data and Information Request Form. All three documents are available below:
